New Hampshire politicians have tossed around the phrase, the New Hampshire Advantage, for a number of years now. Many political candidates, organizations, and small business owners refer to this advantage as; more than being free of income and sales tax but includes limited, effective, and efficient government. Others have said it is what sets New Hampshire apart from the other New England states and even the country.

A current federal budget proposal calls for cutting $800 billion from federal spending and includes significant reductions to Medicaid. This money is used here in the NH to fund Medicaid eligibility for thousands of residents under the Granite Advantage Program. To pass this legislation lawmakers agreed to keep the expanded eligibility in place unless the federal funding for the program fell below 90%, which will be the case unless the funding is continued.

Fellowship Housing Opportunities reiterates the concerns of other advocates for those living with mental health disabilities who rely on Medicaid healthcare and supportive services in our housing with access to medication that keeps their symptoms under control.

No one person has all the answers, but we have seen the benefits and positive outcomes that have resulted in this New Hampshire Advantage. FHO encourages both federal and state lawmakers to do what they can to preserve expanded Medicaid here in the Granite State.
